Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu’s family threatens Buhari govt over IPOB leader’s trial

The family of Nnamdi Kanu, embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has threatened to invoke a prima facie evidence against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.

Kanu’s brother, Kanunta, said the family would be compelled to take such action due to the Federal Government’s refusal to give clarification on the agitator’s arrest, extradition, and trial.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Kanunta said the family insists on knowing the exact location the IPOB leader was arrested.

According to Kanunta: “President Mohammadu Buhari’s led administration has failed to proffer clarifications on the processes deployed in extraditing the freedom fighter.

“As family, we insist on knowing the exact location from where our brother was intercepted, as alleged by the Nigerian government and how come no clarification has been given up until this date.

“The action of the Federal Government, for us, amounts to illegality, and you can not put illegality on illegality and expect it to stand. So, if the court fails to adhere to constitutional law, we would be compelled to invoke the prima facie evidence against the federal government”.

Kanu was said to have been rearrested last June in an African country believed to be Kenya.

The IPOB leader is currently facing terrorism charges before Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court.
